Homestead is an original mixed media painting by Philadelphia artist Libby Saylor built from layered fragments of paint and construction paper — deep charcoal, rich umber, vivid cerulean, and earthy sienna composed into a landscape abstraction that is at once monumental and still. Set against an open field of white, the stacked forms create a sense of quiet vastness, as if farmland, soil, and open sky have been gathered, torn, and held still. At 30" × 44", Homestead is a large-scale, one-of-a-kind statement piece that brings grounded, landscape-driven presence to any curated interior — ideal for designers seeking art that commands a wall without overwhelming a room.
Intuitively assembled on 120 lb Legion Stonehenge Paper, the work captures the slow accumulation of a landscape — layer by layer, fragment by fragment, until something familiar becomes something felt.
